In 2020, Aleah Chapin’s work went through a seismic shift. Walking Backwards is a 4 minute film that tells that story, and is a reminder of how, so often, seemingly impossible situations can lead to beautiful new horizons if we just take a leap into the unknown.

Aleah made the film with her husband, Chris Rodriguez through his production company Sequence 8 Creative. They are honored that Walking Backwards is included in Cinequest, New York Short Film Festival, Berlin Short Film Festival, and Atlanta Docufest. They are humbled to have won the Best Seattle Filmmakers Award from Seattle Film Festival and Best Short Documentary from Venice Film Festival. And they are excited to work together again on future film projects!

The music, which was with Aleah from the very first experimental brushstrokes of her new work, was created by Essie Jain and her husband Patrick Glynn. The song used in the film is called The Rising, on Essie’s 2018 album As I Return. Aleah and Chris are eternally grateful to Essie and Patrick for this music, and allowing them to use it in the film.

Please reach out if you have any questions or comments. Aleah and Chris would be happy to hear from you!
